Democratizing Research

In order to support others in conducting research, I created a DIY program. It was titled Drive It Yourself so that people felt suppported and empowered, and knew they could lean on the team as needed.

The team created supportive collateral including a full handbook for running all types of research, templates for the most common research phases and I put together a LinkedIn learning course with media from LinkedIn, other sources and our own internal trainings.

In just 6 months, over 20 studies were run using the DIY process. This allowed the UXR team to focus on the most complex and risky work, and allowed other projects to move forward, by empowering PMs and designers to talk directly to members.

This overview steps through how and why the program came to be as well as the challenges experienced and how we moved forward.
